You couldn't better each position, tucked away at the heart of the village of Mundaka, a stone thow from the lively fish market and just yards from the beach at de edge of the inlet carved by the Cantabrian sea. The house speaks of the optimism of the early years of the century; it is open, galleried frontage lets in the ever changing ligth and lets you contemplate sand, sea and adjacent church tower of Santa Maria. The owners - kind straightforward folkcare deeply for their hotel; you will probably meet them when you arrive and they will find time to help your plan visits.

We would choose a room with sea view, but they are all worth a nigth; medium.sized, carpeted and with modern prints, they are spik-and span, quiet and confortable- and have more gadgets than you need, plus king-size beds. Atalaya would be a marvellous place to spent the last night before the ferri (car and belongings safe in their free car park); there are meals on offer in a recently opened restaurant or there are good restaurants within walking distance.”
